Troops consolidating gains in SWA

ISLAMABAD Security forces have killed at least seven terrorists while two security personnel including an officer were injured in South Waziristan Agency, ISPR Wednesday said. A statement issued here said that on Jandola-Sararogha axis, the security forces were consolidating their gains and area of domination. The terrorists fired four rockets at village Sararogha from Ahmed Wam, however no loss was reported. On Shakai-Kaniguram axis, the security forces are conducting extensive search and clearance operations after consolidating their positions. During search operation at Torwam, north of Boya and Ghani Khel area, a number of weapons and ammunition including IEDs material have been recovered. Village Kaniguram has been completely searched and cleared. During clearance, 8 tunnels inside the compounds have been discovered along with a number of weapons and ammunition. On Razmak-Makeen axis, the forces are in the process of clearing Makeen and expanding their area of domination. An intense exchange of fire took place at newly established check-post at Fort Knoll. Resultantly, 7 terrorists were killed while two soldiers including an officer were injured. During clearance operation of point 6044 near Makeen, security forces recovered 1x14.5mm gun along with 270 rounds, 1x30mm gun along with 120 rounds, 20 rifles of different types, 11 explosive (TNT) material, 3 directional mines and number of detonators, and ammunition of different types. As regards relief measures, as many as 10,621 cash cards have been distributed among the displaced families of Waziristan. In Swat operation Rah-e-Rast, three terrorists voluntarily surrendered to security forces at Chuprial, Dagai and Kabbal. Security forces conducted search operation at Manglour, Mingora and apprehended three suspects.
