15 vehicle-lifters held, 78 bikes recovered

LAHORE - Anti-Motorcycle Lifting Staff on Thursday claimed to have arrested 15 motorcycle lifters, and recovered 78 motorcycles from their possession during the month of October. The criminals confessed to 78 cases of motorcycle lifting during preliminary interrogation. A police spokesman added that 63 proclaimed offenders and 69 court absconders had been arrested during the month of October. Three of a gang held CIA Police Model Town division on Thursday claimed to have arrested three robbers of Pardesi gang including its ringleader. According to the police, the arrested bandits were involved in several cases of murder, dacoity and robbery. The police also recovered Rs 156,000, five motorcycles, cellphones as well as illegal weapons from their possession. A police spokesman said that the criminals confessed to a number of cases of murder, dacoity and robbery during preliminary interrogation. The police said that the accused were history-sheeters and no less than 32 cases had also been traced against them in different police stations of the City. The arrested robbers were identified as Muhammad Yaseen alias Pardesi, Zameer Ahmed alias Pooma and Ijaz Mustafa alias Jaja. Further investigations are underway.
