Notice issued to PPSC for reply

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed of the Lahore High Court Friday issued notice to the Punjab Public Service Commission on a plea moved by visually impaired persons to question written test sought to be taken from them for the recruitment in Education Department to teach the special people. The petition has been filed by Blind Association inter alia contending that the government has promised to induct in the education department as lecturers and teachers passing them through the viva voice (verbal test) and recorded test and not the written one. They said but the Commission has laid down the condition of compulsory written test for the job when the fact they are visually impaired people not capable to take the written test. They said the condition has to affect as many as 40 persons of the Association and prayed to the court to give them exemption from written test as the law also provided them relief to this effect. The petitioner had prayed to the court for granting interim stay against the PPSC which was going to give written test on November 11 (Friday). The court however did not pass the interim injunction at this stage but subjected announcement of the result of the post (Grade -16) to the final decision on the instant petition. Seeking reply to the petition from the Commission the Court adjourned the hearing. Notice issued to DCO: The Lahore High Court hearing a contempt of court petition Friday issued notice to District Coordination Officer (DCO) Lahore Ahad Cheema for November 17 next. The petition against the DCO has been filed by a Junior Clerk in the Education Department, Manoooral Aziz to question the non-release of Jahez funds despite a Court order. The petitioner contends that the respondent heads Bahbood Funds to facilitate the retired civil servants in the marriage of their daughters by means of providing them jahez fund. The petitioner says he also moved an application before the DCO to seek funds for the marriage of his daughter but he did not take any action on it. On it, he moved the court which directed the respondent to take action on the application of the petitioner but even them nothing was done. On that the instant contempt of court petition has been filed on which the court has called for reply from the DCO by November 17 next.
