LAHORE – Aerial firing by three drunken persons in a marriage ceremony claimed life of their brother in law here on Sunday in the jurisdiction of Shadbagh Police station.

Reportedly, Aftab Ahmad of Karachi came Lahore to participate in a marriage ceremony of his relative. Allegedly three persons namely Awais and two other drunken accomplices suddenly opened aerial fire while standing in the gathering of the marriage ceremony and as result, Aftab Ahmad got injured and was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition where doctors declared him dead.

The police have sent the body of the deceased to the city morgue for autopsy after registering a case against the accused who are still at large.

Suicide: A girl committed suicide after her mother scolded her for talking to her ‘fella’ on her mobile phone Sunday in the Ferozwala area. Reportedly, Anum 22, daughter of Watchman Ghulam Abbas, was talking with some unknown caller on her cell phone.

 Meanwhile her mother Majeeda Bibi came there and stopped her talking with boys on phone and asked her to go to her room where Anum sprayed petrol and blazed her. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead.

gangs Busted: The Gulshan-e-Ravi Police claimed to have nicked two dacoit gangs and and recovered Rs150,000 cash, five motorcycles, 25 mobile phones and illegal weapons. During preliminary interrogation, the accused have confessed to 52 robberies, said the police.

The arrested were named as Jabbar, Usman, Waqas, Ghulam Murtaza, Faisal, Noman, Shahba, Shakar and Junaid. Inquiry against cop: Taking notice of abuse of power, Inspector General of Police Haji Muhammad Habibur Rehman Sunday ordered an inquiry against Chuhng DSP Nasir Bajwa.

Police sources said on Sunday that the CCPO appointed SP (Investigation) Sadar Muntazir Mehdi as the enquiry officer and directed him to submit report in a couple of days.

The sources told that it was brought to the notice of IG that Nasir Bajwa, glaringly and without observing the standing instructions, got registered a case u/s 489 F involving Rs 4 million with Nawab Town Police Station without calling the both parties.

The owner after greasing the palm of the DSP got registered the case to achieve his ulterior motives.

Inqury: The IG taking serious notice, directed the SP Investigation Muntazir Mehdi not to arrest the owner of the poultry farm unless the offence is made out and conduct investigation on merit.

The CCPO has already issued instructions to all DIGs, SSP, Operation, Investigation wings, DSPs and Inspectors that no case u/s 489 F will be registered unless it is finally approved by the SP concerned on merit in order to fully ensure administration of justice to all.
