LAHORE : Farmer Associates Pakistan (FAP) on Monday appealed the government to levy tax on income from agriculture and livestock under the Income Tax Ordinance 2001. Addressing a press conference here at a local hotel, FAP President Tariq Bucha said that they wanted to support the government by giving tax. He said the tax number similar to all other income tax assessees should be issued to assessees of agriculture. Tariq Bucha said that upon imposition of the income tax regime, similar rights should be given to rural dwellers as given to urban areas. He urged the government to announce that from now onwards the agriculture sector was fully under the equitable tax net.
