LAHORE - Senior leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) have demanded maximum punishment to the culprits of Kot Radha Kishan gruesome incident from the government.
PTI Punjab president Ijaz Chaudhary, Khursheed Mehmood Kasuri and other leaders called on the family members of Shahzad and Shama on Tuesday, who were killed by mob in Kot Radha Kishan for their alleged blasphemous action.
The political leaders offered their condolences to the bereaved family, saying Islam never allowed any Muslim to carry out mob justice come what may.
They also offered financial and legal assistance to the families of the affected Christian couple and demanded from government to make public the facts of the incident in seven days. A speedy investigation into the matter was also demanded by the PTI leaders.
“Islam teaches us to protect the minorities but the Punjab government has not only failed to protect the minorities but also to the majority, Muslims,” they contended.
Partial strike in lower courts: A partial strike was observed in lower courts to condemn the incident of lynching Christian Couple in Kasur District on Tuesday.
The lawyers boycotted courts proceedings and strongly condemned the incident. The strike was also observed in Model Town courts, Cantt and District Courts. They demanded the government to stop the brutality being committed against minority and bring the culprits to justice soon. The litigants, however, faced lot of problems due to partial strike as hundreds of cases adjourned Partial strike in lower courtsto next date.
WCR CONDEMNS KILLINGS: The key religious leaders of Pakistan condemn the brutal killing of Christian couple in Kot Radha Kishan. They flayed the incident at a press briefing organised by World Council of Religions (WCR) here the other day.
“It is one of the saddest incidents of our recent history and WCR can feel the sorrows of effected family and the Christians. We are standing with them in these moments,” said the leaders.
The press briefing was endorsed by Maulana M Hanif Jalandhry, Bishop Samuel Azariah, Qari Roohullah Madani, Maulana Yaseen Zafar, Bishop Mano, Maulana Abd-ul-Maalik, Qazi Niaz Naqvi, Bishop Joseph Quotes and Hafiz M Nauman Hamid.
