Islamabad -  In order to facilitate and provide more healthy facilities to the youth of the federal capital, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has started work on up-gradation and renovation of different sports grounds.

Under the project, different sports grounds of Islamabad are not only being upgraded in collaboration with private sector but CDA is also ensuring daily maintenance and provision of all the facilities. Earlier, these grounds could not be maintained properly. On the directions of Chairman Maroof Afzal, the CDA called expression of interest from private sector and five different companies showed their interest and agreed to upgrade and beautify sports grounds as well as provision of security and sanitary staff and electricity, and payment of electricity dues on regular basis. Moreover, provision of well designed benches, dustbins and allied facilities are also being ensured in this regard.

The CDA will not bear any cost on the maintenance of these grounds. However, these companies are being allowed to display their advertisements on specific places in these grounds without disturbing the beautification of the ground aesthetically.

Member Administration and Estate CDA, Amir Ali Amhed, has said that CDA welcomes all positive suggestions to improve the conditions of sports grounds so that healthy opportunities could be provided to the residents, especially the youth. He said that on the directions of Chairman CDA, the companies would only be responsible for up-gradation and maintenance of the grounds whereas the grounds would remain open and free for general public without any discrimination. He further said that the basic purpose behind the up-gradation of these grounds was to provide sports facilities to the residents of all sectors.
