The citizens have expressed their grave concern over the rising incidents of dacoity, robbery, bike snatching and donkey lifting in the area during the last one month.

They called upon Punjab police high-ups to order the local police to take concrete measures to prevent the incidents so as to create sense of security among the public.

On Wednesday, 14 more donkeys were lifted away from Karyala village by a gang operating in the district.

According to villagers, unidentified gang lifted away 14 donkeys from the stables of Munir Ahmad, Nazar Butt, Soba Masih, Mushtaq Ahmad, Rafique, Hameed, Majeed, Wazeer Ali, Yaqoob Salehria and Saeed Salehria. They took the animals away to deserted place near the village where the accused slaughtered them and removed their hides leaving behind their remains.

Besides, 54 other donkeys have been lifted away by the organised gang which had removed the hides but not a single accused has so far been arrested. As a result, the incidents have increased in the area which is causing concern among the villagers.

A few days ago, three armed dacoits stormed into a house in Mohallah Sharifpura in broad daylight, made the occupants hostage and whisked away with gold ornaments and cash worth million of rupees. Similarly, three armed dacoits intruded into the house of Mehar Shafiq in Mohallah Dhab Wala in broad daylight and on the resistance, tied all the family members with strings and made off with 20 tolas of gold ornaments and cash.

Unidentified burglars in a grocery shop owned by Mudassar Alam in Ali Town made away with grocery items which created sense of harassment among the citizens. In all the cases, police have been reported but they turned a deaf ear to the incident.
