THARPARKAR: Three children expired due to malnutrition in drought hit Tharparkar today after which the death toll during the current year has climbed to 440.
The health department sources said that three children affected of various diseases caused due to malnutrition and under treatment at Civil Hospital Mithi and Tahaluqa hospital Nagarparkar died.
The children who died during treatment were aged four days, 15 days and 45 days. With the recent deaths, toll during the month of November has reached to 18 while since January 01, 2016, 440 children have expired due to malnutrition related diseases.
The malnutrition has engulfed the lives of about 900 children during last couple of years but despite the deteriorating situation the health department and the provincial governments have taken any solid steps resulting in loss of more precious lives.
The people of Tharparkar have appealed the international NGO’s for taking notice of the situation in the drought hit district and for appropriate measures to save the lives of innocent children.
