Unpaid nursing students raise a rumpus

TOBA TEK SINGH-The students of Government Nursing School staged on Saturday a protest outside Gojra THQ Hospital, demanding payment of their outstanding stipend money due for the last 10 months.
They told the media that they are serving as under-training nurses in Gojra THQ hospital but nothing has been paid to them for the last 10 months. On the other hand, they are forced to sign a paper that they are not paying any money against hostel mess meals to the hostel management although they have to pay Rs1500 to Rs2000 per month against having meals from the hostel's mess.
They demanded immediate payment of their outstanding stipend money of last 10 months. Later, the health department officials held talks with them and informed that funds have not been provided for their stipend money and hopefully funds will soon be provided for the purpose. As soon as, the funds are release they will get their stipends.
Man shot at, injured on resistance
Dacoits shot at and critically injured a villager over offering resistance near Gojra here on Saturday.
According to the Nawan Lahore Police, Abdul Ghafoor, resident of Chak 90/JB was on the way back from Faisalabad on a motorcycle. As he reached he reached Painsara-Gojra Road, two motorcyclists intercepted him at gunpoint. The bandits attempted to snatch cash and cellphone from him but he offered resistance. Upon which, the suspects fired gunshots on him. As a result he sustained critical gunshot wounds and was admitted to Gojra THQ Hospital.
