Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar and Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervaiz Elahi have been summoned to Islamabad by the Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Monday.
The Punjab CM, provincial governor and Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) leader were called to the federal capital by the premier after a video was leaked on media in which, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Jehangir Tareen is sitting witht eh PML-Q leadership and the muslim league-Q’s Tariq Cheema can be heard requesting the PTI leader to control Chaudhry Sarwar.
The video raised several questions over Buzdar’s authority as chief minister and also highlights the differences between the two allied parties - PTI and PML-Q. The video showed a meeting between Tareen, Hafiz Ammar Yasir and PML-Q leaders Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Federal Minister for Housing Tariq Bashir Cheema.
Cheema can be heard speaking to Tareen and requesting the PTI leader, “Sir, control Sarwar! He will not let your chief minister continue.” According to sources, the premier has called Buzdar, Sarwar and Elahi to Islamabad to discuss the matter of the video leak. A strategy for the Senate elections will also be discussed during the meeting, the sources further said.
