Major power breakdown leaves Karachi in dark

Karachi on Monday suffered a major power breakdown that left vast areas of the city in darkness.

According to initial reports, 80 per cent of the city experienced a blackout. The areas affected include Gulistan-e-Johar, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Nazimabad, Liaquatabad, Bahadurabad, PECHS, Mehmoodabad, Sadar, Super Highway, Sohrab Goth, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Guddap, Ancholi and surrounding areas.

The spokesperson maintained that Bin Qasim power plant went out of order and tripped the high tension line.

Moreover,  the power supply from the national grid has also been disconnected. He claimed that efforts are underway to restore electricity in the metropolis.

It is pertinent to mention here that Karachiites are suffering the fifth power breakdown within the last two months.
