Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday issued notices to Chief Secretary Sindh, Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir and other respondents and directed them to submit their replies by next hearing on the application of Member of National Assembly (MNA) Saif Ur Rehman.
The MNA submitted an application in the court that said that the security provided to him, for being a witness in the murder case of Naqeebullah Mehsud, was withdrawn. The MNA approached SHC against the withdrawal of security, and the SHC directed the officials to submit their replies by 24th December.
MNA stated before the court that he is a member of the National Assembly and an important witness in the Naqeeb murder case and he had extreme security concerns. He said, “I have reservations for former SSP Malir Rao Anwar and other police officials due to their involvement in Naqeeb’s murder.”
He said that the Supreme Court had directed the police to provide foolproof security to the witnesses of Naqeeb Mehsud murder case. He stated that withdrawing his security is the contempt of court. He pleaded the court that Sindh government should be directed for the provision of security to him.
