Expansion of drone raids

A report published in the weekly Economist has revealed that there is a sharp increase in US drone attacks in Pakistani Fata region killing innocent civilians. While during former President George W. Bushs tenure, there was an average gap of 40 days between two attacks, under President Obamas set-up, the interval has been reduced to four days. Such frequent and brazen violation of our sovereignty and loss of life is totally unacceptable. Islamabad ought to raise a hue and cry at diplomatic and military levels and if Washington pays no heed, the issue should be taken to international forums including the United Nations. Pakistans air space cannot be left at the mercy of Americans UAVs. The military top brass must also ponder over this painful dilemma and trust Air Chiefs assurance that PAF has the capability to shoot them down once such orders are given. The COAS Gen Kayani and the corps commanders had, in successive meetings, expressed their indignation over these attacks. In their last meeting they announced without mincing their words that continuation of these attacks would not be tolerated. To make matters worse, foreign powers notably the US and India have started sponsoring subversive activities the latest example of which is a rocket attack on a rally that was to be addressed by Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhaw province.
