EOBI disburses over Rs 1b among 0.4m pensioners

KARACHI - The Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) has disbursed an amount of Rs.1,075 million during one month. This was stated by Chairman EOBI Zafar Iqbal Gondal.
He said that EOBI is a prime organisation for labour welfare in the country that provides pensionery benefits to the workers/employees of the private sectors, industrial, commercial establishments during their old age, invalidity and after their demise to their survivors.
He was presiding over a high level meeting of EOBI officials. Javed Iqbal Director General (Operations) briefed the meeting that EOBI has so far registered 86,725 employers, 5,184,983 employees and approved 448,097 pension claims since inception the EOB scheme, which includes 288,877 old age, 7,451 invalidity, 130,130 survivors and 21,639 old age grants claims.

 He also informed that the EOBI has collected Rs 1,650 million as EOB contribution during the quarter July-September 2012.
Chairman also expressed his satisfaction that EOBI has started disbursement of pension through mobile banking  Easypaisa which is a fastest  service in the country. He said through Easypaisa, we aim to make lives easier for our old age, disabled and widow pensioners. It is a step forwards for convenience of our respectable pensioners.
EOBI has requested its respected pensioners to register themselves at the nearest Telenor franchise, Telenore sales and service centers or Tameer Micro Finance Bank branches along with their EOBI pension book and original CNIC. Once registered, they can withdraw pension from designated Easypaisa outlets across Pakistan.
Chairman EOBI also directed the concerned officials to process all pension claims of effected workers and their families of M/S Ali Enterprise in a week. Earlier, Zafar Iqbal Gondal advised the official particularly field officers that they are performing  a noble cause to uplift poorest of the poor community, so any inefficiency and corruption shall not be tolerated in this welfare institution.
