Green tractor quota up for South Punjab

MULTAN - The provincial government is learnt to have boosted Green Tractor quota for South Punjab region by 15 per cent. With the increased quota, the 13 districts of three divisions of South Punjab will receive 4,518 tractors while the remaining 23 districts of the province will get 5,482. Sources said that the every 7,453 residents of South Punjab would get one tractor while 11177 of other districts would receive one tractor. The tractors will be given to the residents of Multan, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan divisions and the decision is likely to give a major boost to the agriculture sector in this region.
It may not be out of place to mention here that the provincial government plans to distribute 10,000 tractors worth Rs2 billion during the on going year while the same number will be given next year. The government pays Rs200,000 subsidy on each tractor while 700 laser land levellers are also being handed to the farmers at subsidized cost.
