Ulema urged to highlight importance of polio vaccination

PESHAWAR – District Khateeb Peshawar, Maulana Ghulam Rasool Haqqani has urged ulema to support polio vaccination and to give special sermons on importance of polio during Friday prayers. He said this while inaugurating October round of polio campaign in the province. EDO (H) Peshawar, Dr Abdur Rasheed, Shaikul Hadees Moulana Atta Ur Rehman, renowned religious scholars, representatives of UNICEF, WHO and provincial Health Department were present on the occasion.District Khateeb said that well-known religious scholars have given fatwas in favour of polio vaccine, which was an ample proof that the vaccine was safe and don’t carry any harmful ingredient.He urged upon religious scholars to play active role in mobilizing the society for polio vaccination that would safeguard our future generations from the crippling disease. EDO Health Peshawar Dr Abdur Rasheed dilated upon the technical side of polio vaccine saying that it was absolutely safe adding that the world has eradicated polio through the same vaccine. He said that nobody could imagine the miseries of a polio-affected child and his family, as the disease once contracted leaves behind a trail of agony and pain.Earlier, District Khateeb Maulana Ghulam Rasool Haqqani and EDO Health Peshawar Dr Abdur Rasheed administered polio drops to the children to kick off three days anti polio drive in the province.
