Indeed, nowadays things can’t long be hidden in this connected world as it used to be in the past. Reports are pouring in from various parts of rural Pakistan, in particular, the upper and lower regions in Sindh where hundreds of thousands of expectant mothers do not get respectful care during their delivery, resuscitation for newborns, vaccinations, diarrhea treatment and education about the importance of breastfeeding and hand washing. One must visit any district to learn about this deplorable reality but better to visit my home district Larkana where an alarming number of expectant mothers are reported in pathetic conditions in government run and private hospitals which have turned to be nothing but slaughter houses for poor patients.
Would the humanity caring international organizations such as the USAID, JICA, GIZ, etc. not show any sympathy and mercy towards countless expectant mothers and newborns by launching Mother care programs in Sindh province because it is not the priority of callous ruling elite?
