Islamabad - The Islamabad High Court has issued a notification directing the judges of lower judiciary to strictly observe court timings and not to attend any function or gathering of lawyers during court hours.

However, Secretary General of Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA) Waqas Malik Advocate and some other lawyers have expressed their severe concerns over this step of IHC administration.

According to details, Registrar office of IHC has sent a letter to district and sessions judge (West), district and sessions judge (East) and administrative judge of Federal Judicial Complex in this regard.

The letter stated a meeting between Chief Justice IHC Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi and IHCBA President Tariq Mehmood Jehangiri was held on September 29.

It added that during the meeting, the IHC Chief Justice passed the following directions. He directed, “All presiding officer be directed to strictly observe the court timings.” He further directed, “The functions/gatherings should not be held during the court hours; and if any function is required to be conducted, prior approval of the high court be obtained.”

Waqas Malik said that they strongly condemn this notification and demanded from the IHC administration to immediately withdraw it.

On the other hand, the IHCBA president has said that during court timings, only such functions of lawyers will be banned in which judges would be invited. He said that the aim of this ban is to facilitate the litigants so that they could be saved from unnecessary adjournments.

He also told that on his request, the IHC administration has also issued an order to fix the cases within fifteen days which were left over due to leave or some other engagement of the concerned judge.
