KP Chief minister approves Rs284 million grant for FEF

PESHAWAR - Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervaiz Khattak has approved a grant of Rs284 million for Frontier Education Foundation (FEF) Colleges with the direction to move a summary to this effect forthwith.

He was presiding over a meeting of Board of Directors of FEF at Chief Minister House, Peshawar. Adviser to CM on Information & Higher Education Mushtaq Ghani, Finance Minister Muzaffar Said, Administrative Secretaries of respective departments, MD FEF & Bank of Khyber, VC University of Engineering & Technology, Advocate General and other concerned attended.

To run the affairs of the foundation as per original mandate, ensure its smooth functioning, the Chief Minister constituted a sub-committee under the chairmanship of Mushtaq Ghani. The committee is mandated to chalk out modalities and decide the authority for administrative and supervisory control of FEF. In the previous meeting of BOD, it was proposed on the directives of CM that special grant is required for colleges having better enrolment position.

The Chief Minister said his government wanted to promote quality education with the end goal to establish a welfare society based on social equality, justice, free of all sorts of exploitation. He said his government would not compromise on quality of education that was why educational budget had been increased from more than 100 billion.

He ordered the authorities concerned to make FEF an effective body and achieve its set objectives and targets. He also directed MD FEF to continue his responsibilities as MD on acting charge basis till the posting of a full-fledged MD, e added.

Besides, the Chief Minister also ordered immediate commencement of classes in Takhtbai Commerce College in a rented building from next academic session and preparation of PCI for provision of furniture and other facilities. 

He directed for preparation of PCI for Degree College Gujar Garhi Mardan through imposition of section 4 as well as provision of 2 kanal land for establishment of school.  He was presiding over a meeting regarding ongoing schemes in district Mardan at CM Secretariat Peshawar.  Education Minister Muhammad Atif Khan, MPA Iftikhar Mashwani, Administrative Secretary and other concerned attended.  The meeting discussed progress on ongoing developmental schemes in district Mardan. 

Chief Minister on this occasion directed that the unutilized funds of umbrella schemes in Mardan should be diverted towards ongoing schemes in order to ensure its timely completion. Chief Minister also directed imposition of Section 4 and preparation of PCI for widening of Takhtbai Kanal Road.   The Chief Minister directed the quarter concerned to acquire land for graveyard in Gujar Garhi Mardan.  Chief Minister said that government was making all its efforts for the provision of sports facilities to the youth at gross route level and agreed to the construction of playground in government high school Gujar Garhi.  He said that approval has already been given for Gujar Garhi Canal Park spreading over an area of 50 canal land and directed to expedite work.

On Mardan Bus Terminal on the issue of Mardan Kachary, he directed to convene a high level meeting.  Chief Minister directed DC Mardan to ensure quality completion of all developmental schemes in district Mardan.
