SADIQABAD-The PML-N has started drumming up support of chairmen of union councils to get its candidate elected as District Council chairman.
According to the PML-N sources, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has tasked his son Hamza Shehbaz with ensuring election of the PML-N candidate as District Council chairman. On the other hand, Hamza Shehbaz has also directed the PML-N leaders including MNAs Sardar Arshad Leghari, Mian Imtiaz Ahmed, Ch Muhammad Shafique and MPAs - Raees Mehboob, Ch Ejaz Shafi, Ch Islam Aslam and others to woo all the UCs chairmen to get the party candidate elected as chairman of the district council.
On the other hand, a renowned business tycoon and PML-N leader Ch Muhammad Munir also visited Rahim Yar Khan and met local politicians and the PML-N leaders which would also be helpful in winning their trust.
It is to be mention that all the UCs chairmen, elected as an independent candidate, earlier intended support the PPP, have now joined the N-League after being wooed by notables of the area.
The PML-N has majority in district union council by clinching 70 seats while the two PTI chairmen are also supporting the party candidate.
Mehmood, Bilawal discuss PPP resurrection in Punjab
PPP Central Leader and former Punjab governor Syed Ahmed Mehmood called on the party chairman Bilawal Bhutto at Bilawal House in Karachi to discuss the party organisation in Punjab.
According to Ahmed Mehmood, PPP South Punjab Coordination Committee members accompanied him in the meeting. On the occasion, three separate panels were constituted for the district presidents, general secretaries and secretaries’ information.
Later, Bilawal also meet Ahmed’s sons - MPA Murtaza Mehmood, MNA Mustafa Mehmood and Ali Mehmood - and arranged a dinner for them. He also acknowledged the former governor’s services for the party revival campaign and strengthening its network in South Punjab.
On the other hand, People’s Youth Organisation District President Khawar Bajwah said that all the party office bearers and workers are united and party is being revived under the enthusiastic leadership of Bilawal Bhutto. He said that the PPP is going to launch a mass contact campaign in Punjab, saying soon the party will be reorganised and its network across the province will be strengthened. “The PPP will come into power again and wins public trust as it has enjoyed in the past,” he claimed.
