MIRPURKHAS - Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) Sindh Youth Wing President Raja Ansari has strongly condemned Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Marvi Memon’s statement in which she had called the PML (N) Youth Wing workers

agents for  protesting against corruption in BISP. He was talking to this correspondent over telephone here on Tuesday.

He said that when prime minister of Pakistan had appointed Marvi memon as chairperson of BISP, youth wing activists of Sindh had worked voluntarily to compile lists of the beneficiaries due to shortage of BISP staff in Sindh.

“At that time, I myself was appointed by her as provincial focal person. She also appointed youth wing office-bearers as district focal persons for keeping an eye on corruption in the department and also pointing out the corrupt officers,” he recalled.

He lamented that when the focal persons provided to her proofs of corruption, she only warned the corrupt officers and bought their propaganda that youth wing workers and office-bearers were agents. He said that Marvi had failed to control corruption due to which the beneficiaries started protesting and male and female workers of the youth wing held demonstrations against her and corrupt officers of the BISP.

He blamed that now the BISP officers were directly receiving commission, while in past they received it through agents.

He demanded the prime minister to take notice of gross corruption in BISP, ensure replacement of corrupt officers with honest ones so that beneficiaries could get their whole installments without paying the money to the agents.

He also demanded the PM to restore the focal persons at district level to their positions.
