LAHORE - Police yesterday identified the 40-year-od woman, who was found brutally murdered in Lahore’s Shahdara Town neighbourhood on Monday.
The deceased was named by police as Firdous Bibi, a resident of Abbas Nagar, Shahdara Town. Her relatives took to streets to protest brutal murder.
A family member of the lady told the police that Firdous left the house to fetch some edibles from a nearby shop but did not come back. Police discovered her charred body from River Ravi near Haji Kot on early Monday.
The protesters blocked the GT Road by setting the tyres of fire. They also chanted slogans against the police.
Meanwhile, some police officers reached the spot and managed to disperse the protesters after holding a series of negotiations with them. The officers assured the victim family that the killers would be arrested soon since they were investigating the killing. Firdous’ murder was the third similar killing in Lahore during the last one week. Police investigators have badly failed to trace the killers, as horrific homicides have triggered panic among the local population.
A 40-year-old woman was found slaughtered near the Jahangir Tomb in Shahdara on early Saturday.
A couple of days ago, a young woman was found stuffed in a suitcase alongside a drain near Choburgi Park on Lytton Road.
