ISLAMABAD (APP) - Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir Friday invited Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao to Islamabad for Foreign Secretary-level talks in a bid to start the stalled peace process between Pakistan and India. In his meeting with Indian High Commissioner Sharat Sabharwal, who called on him at Foreign Office, the Foreign Secretary reiterated his earlier invitation for the meeting. Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir recalled that the Prime Ministers of Pakistan and India, in their meeting at Sharm El Sheikh on July 16, 2009, had agreed that dialogue is the only way forward. It was also decided that the two Foreign Secretaries should meet prior to the meeting between the two Foreign Ministers. He also informed the High Commissioner that Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi looked forward to meeting with his Indian counterpart. The Foreign Secretary mentioned that Pakistan attaches importance to these engagements in moving the relations forward.
