Sugar disappears from the market but the stubborn millers refuse to talk. What is all this. Following court's decision to fix the sugar price at Rs. 40 per kg, the sugar has virtually disappeared from the market. The retailers have stopped selling the commodity fearing punitive action from the government. They are not selling it at the prescribed rate. Millers have also refused to have negotiation with CM Shahbaz Sharif saying they need more time for mutual consultation. Why is all this happening in our country, the general public knows not. Millers are seeing their own benefit only so some action should be taken against them. -MISS AYESHA GHAFFAR AWAN, Lahore, via e-mail, September 7.
