KARACHI - Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Farooq Sattar was severely injured in a road accident that left his vehicle “completely destroyed” on Super Highway while travelling from Hyderabad to Karachi, reported private TV channels. “He is being moved to a hospital in Karachi, his condition is out of danger,” Khawaja Izharul Hassan, a senior leader of the MQM told a private TV channel by telephone.

The incident occurred near Nooriabad on the Super Highway when the MQM leader was returning from Hyderabad along with his comrades and security guards. “The vehicle rolled over several times after crashing into barriers that were left on the road for construction,” Izharul Hassan said. “Farooq Bhai is safe, he has sustained injuries to his back and shoulder,” he said, adding that four other people travelling with the MQM leader were injured. “A police guard is in critical condition, he has been moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital,” he said. Izharul Hassan disclosed that Farooq Sattar had suffered internal injuries from the accident and would be taken to the hospital for his X-ray scan. Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Khursheed Shah expressed his concern regarding the safety of Farooq Sattar and prayed for his speedy recovery.
