Kashmiri delegation to apprise world of Indian brute force

33rd session of UNHRC in Geneva

MIRPUR (AJK)-An eight members Kashmiri delegation is set to leave for Geneva on Monday 9today) to attend 33rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).
The delegation will apprise the world human rights body of worst human rights situation of Indian occupied Kashmir. The delegation, comprising APHC leaders and civil society activists, during their stay in Geneva will sensitize the International community, Geneva based diplomats, the UUNO mechanism, office of the high commissioner, think-tanks and International human rights nongovernmental organisations to the death and destruction, maiming and blinding of innocent people of Kashmir by Indian army and other paramilitary forces.
Delegation head Altaf Hussain Wani told the media on Sunday that the delegation has already sent a cache of information to the office of the high commissioner and mandate holders on the ongoing human rights situation in held Kashmir, almost all cases of killings over the past 63 days have already been reported to the concerned UN mechanism. He said the delegation has sent letters to UN Commissioner on human rights and president ICRC.
Excessive use of force, use of lethal weapons to quell street protest, gagging of cellular phone services, Internet, print and electronic media, raids to arrest and detain people without any reason and slapping of Public safety act on thousands of youth and detention of leaders and activists, attacks on ambulances and hospitals all these massive rights violations will be discussed during the session.
Mr Wani regretted it is unfortunate that International community has remained largely silent, which the India has exploited in her favour to continue its repression and suppression in Kashmir.
He informed that besides taking part in main sessions and debates in the council, the delegation would hold seminars on the sidelines of the session. There will be demonstration in front of the United Nations in Geneva,” Wani added.
The delegation members Include, Sardar Amjad Yousaf, Syed Faiz Naqashabandi, Hassanul Banna, Ahmed Qurashie, Mrs, Shamim Shawl and others.
