KARACHI (APP) - Immense investment opportunities are available in the country and the investors are expressing interest for benefiting from these. This was stated by Sindh Governor, Dr. Ishrat-ul- Ebad Khan, here on Sunday. A statement here on Sunday said that he was talking to a delegation of the American investors at the Governor House here. The delegation included the Chief Executive Officer of the Matrix Group Consulting Limited, Ms. Cathleen. Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping, Babar Khan Ghauri, Federal Secretary Port and Shipping, Muhammad Saleem Khan, were also present on the occasion. The Governor Sindh welcomed the arrival of the American investors to Pakistan. The US firm has entered into Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of 250 MW each power plants at the Karachi Port Trust and the Port Qasim Authority. These also included generation of electricity from coal at Port Qasim and wind energy projects at the Karachi Port Trust. For the generation of electricity priority would be given to the use of local coal, the statement added. It said that the Governor drew the attention of the company towards local collaboration as well as investment towards sewerage treatment and solid waste management etc. The Governor further pointed out that the local firms are desirous of collaboration. He also shed light on the on-going steps for bringing about improvements in the economy as well as infrastructure. Dr. Ishrat also reminded that Pakistan is playing the role of a frontline state in the fight against terror. He said that international community by enhancing economic ties with Pakistan, should strengthen our country. The Governor said that a strong Pakistan was also in the interest of the world community.
