LAHORE - Chairman Chief Minister Task Force on Health Dr Asad Ashraf has said that the chief minister has directed to resolve the issues of doctors regarding their recruitment on regular basis, salary and service structure and house job during the current month and that the doctors community would soon listen a good news. He expressed these views while addressing the prize distribution ceremony of sports week of Punjab Institute of Mental Health (PIMH) here on Sunday. Chairman CM Task Force on Sports, Mrs Niva Usman, Executive Director of PIMH Dr Nusrat Habib, representatives of Pakistan Medical Association and NGOs, doctors, nurses of the institute and the patients were present on this occasion. The sports activities of special persons continued for a week, as patients of PIMH enthusiastically participated in it. On the last day few games were held including 50 meter race, tyre race, bori race, lemon race and tug of rope. The patients of institute expressed their talent in these games like normal people. Executive Director Dr Nusrat Habib in her welcome address said that due to terrorist attacks, social problems like aggressiveness and anxiety in children as well as in adults have been increasing day by day and it could be minimised by promoting sports activities. She said that importance of psychiatrists in our society is also increasing, adding that the health department should give proper attention to mental health like other diseases. She demanded that the area of PIMH should not be allotted to other institutions and its land should be retrieved from others. She said that different types of therapies are being applied for the treatment of the patients on scientific manners. The treatment of mental as well as psychiatric patients is difficult than the normal patients, she added. Dr Asad Ashraf in his addressed, said that chief minister had taken solid steps for the welfare of the poor and special attention was being paid to provide maximum health facilities to the poor. He took serious notice of not attending the function by any representative of the health department. He said that no one would be allowed to grab the land of PIMH and the administration of the institution would be taken on board while taking any decision. He disclosed that health card scheme for poor would be introduced in Punjab very soon. He said that for the first time instead of VIP rooms, the government had ordered to install air conditioners in the common wards of government hospitals and free medicines as well as free dialysis facilities have been provided throughout the province.
