Pakistan urges for joint strategy on counter terrorism

Pakistan has urged the United States not to attach its aid with the condition of war against terrorism and extremism and stop drone strikes within Pakistani territory. Chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator John Kerry called on President Asif Ali Zardari here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Monday. Kerry discussed with the President the situation in the region, upcoming meeting of Friends of Democratic Pakistan in Tokyo on April 17, funds for socio-economic uplift in Pakistan and the ongoing war on terror. The President emphasized the need to expedite the Kerry- Lugar Bill and ROZs' legislation and the need for working out a joint strategy to counter terrorism. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and US ambassador in Pakistan Anne W Patterson were also present in the meeting.
