Leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that his party has called upon the government to reconsider its decision to rename NWFP as Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Speaking to newsmen in Islamabad on Monday, Nisar said all political parties should persuade Hazara people to maintain calm as violent incidents have claimed lives of at least five people. I am in contact with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Awami National Party (ANP) on the issue of renaming NWFP, he said adding, we cannot backtrack on the 18th Amendment as we have already signed the bill. Responding to a question, he said President Asif Ali Zardari had granted special remission to prisoners to benefit one person only. About 2900 persons are set to benefit under the remission scheme in Punjab.
