KASUR-Unschdeduled loadshedding forced traders, powerloom workers, tannery workers to come to the roads and stage violent protests against 15 to 20 hours loadshedding here on Monday. A complete shutter-down strike was observed in the City while the protesters blocked main Ferozepur Road by burning tyres and ransacked dozens of vehicles. Thousands of protesters led by PML-N Central Executive Committee member Haji Safdar Ali (father of sitting MPA), PML-Q backed former District Naib Nazim Haji Maqsood Ahmed (both are political rivals), staged a protest demo outside the shrine of Hazrat Baba Bulleh Shah and then moved on to the DHQ Hospital Chowk while passing through Shahbaz Road and Kashmir Chowk. The demonstrators were holding placards and banners and raised slogans against the govt demanding uniterrupted power supply. Speaking on the occasion, they said that price-hike had already broken the back of the daily wager and now 20 hours loadshedding was ,adding, to their miseries. They said that the govt had failed to deliver and change the plight of an ordinary citizen. They said that the sacrifices of the nation rendered for the revival of democracy and rule of law seem to be wasted. Later, they blocked the road for about two hours by burning tyres creating hurdles for the commuters. The charged mob ransacked an ambulance of DHQ hospital and thrashed the staff of the vehicle. Later, the protesters pelted stones at the buses and wagons carrying passengers breaking the glasses while some passengers were reportedly injured. A bus carrying a wedding guest was the cause of the scuffle as the protesters and the guests wanted to cross the road. Later on the assurance of district administration, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
