LAHORE – The provincial government has notified two holidays in a week. Now Saturday will be observed as the first official holiday in the Punjab while Friday has been declared as full working day.
The office timings for Monday to Thursday will be from 08:00am to 04:00pm with half an hour break at 1pm while on Friday it will be from 8:00am to 4:00pm with lunch/Friday prayers break from 12:30am to 2:00pm.
The government employees welcomed the decision and hoped that it would minify the energy crisis however, some of them said government should resolve the outages issue on permanent basis.
Police ordered to work on Saturday: On the orders of Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP), Aftab Sultan, all the police headquarters including the Central Police Office (CPO) would remain open on Saturday across the province, a police spokesperson said.
In an official handout, the spokesperson also clarified that the police department would not observe Saturday as holiday.
All the police officers and officials are directed to continue official working on Saturday as usual.
A few days ago, the provincial government announced two weekly holidays on Saturday and Sunday. The decision of two weekly-off was made to help conserve energy as the country is confronting worst types of power cuts with rising temperature.
