RAWALPINDI: Chances of breeding of dengue larva and mosquitoes have increased due to unexpected high rainfall and all the departments concerned should get ready to control outbreak of the disease according to their SOPs.
All government departments should learn from the experiences of previous years and work with responsibility and in close coordination to fight dengue . No negligence on the part of any department would be tolerated. These views were expressed by Labour and Manpower Minister Raja Ashfaq Sarwar and Adviser to CM on Health Khwaja Salman Rafique while presiding over the dengue review meeting at the Commissioner’s Office here on Saturday.
PML-N MNA Malik Abrar Ahmed, Asia Naz Tanoli, Tahira Aurangzeb, MPAs Raja Hanif Advocate, Chaudhry Sarfraz Afzal, Raja Mohammad Ali, Zaib-un-Nisa Awan and Shaukat Bhatti, PML-N leaders Dr Jamal Nasir and Malik Shakil Awan, Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Zahid Saeed, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Sajid Zafar Dall, and concerning officials of health, education, environment, agriculture and other departments were also present on the occasion.  Asfaq said it was the time that citizens remove dengue breeding places in their surrounding areas, and the government departments should work on a war footing otherwise dengue can emerge again this year. –Israr Ahmed
He said the administrations of Islamabad and Rawalpindi should work in close coordination and especially focus on the boundary areas of the twin cities.
Salman Rafique said that third party evaluation of anti-dengue steps of all departments would be carried out. He said that detailed case management of every dengue suspect case should be conducted so that this disease could be eliminated. He said proper training of GPS (general practitioners) should be conducted and it should be ensured that all private hospitals have all facilities like public hospitals to tackle expected dengue patients.
Commissioner Zahid Saeed said that all government departments have already made a proper planning to tackle dengue , and now it’s time to implement this strategy. He said all government departments should work in close coordination to eliminated dengue .
