1.463m children to be vaccinated in anti-polio drive

PESHAWAR - Under Sihat-Ka-Ittehad Program, a special anti-polio campaign kicked off in Khyber Pakhtunkwa on Monday.
During the three-day campaign, a total of 1.463 million children under the age five years will be administered anti-polio drops in 24 districts of the province.
According to a report of the Polio Emergency Operation Centre of Health Department, the campaign will be carried out in 230 selected Union councils, which are considered to be high-risk areas in terms of poliovirus.
 A total of 4240 mobile and 395 fixed teams have been deputed while 141 transit points have also been set up across the province.
Among the 230 selected union councils, seven have been targeted in district Abbottabad, 13 in Bannu, two in Batgram, 19 in Charsadda, 17 in D.I.khan, two in Lower Dir, five each in Upper Dir and Hangu, seven in Harripur, three in Karak, four in Kohat, two each in Kohistan and Malakand, four in Mansehra, 44 in Mardan, nine in Nowshehra, 51 in Peshawar, five in Shangla, 16 in Tank and 13 in Torghardistrict. Polio vaccines have been delivered to the districts and full logistic support has also been provided to ensure the mobility and access of polio teams to the targeted areas.
