| Siraj says Karachiites backed MQM that gave target killings, extortion in return

­KARACHI - The Jamaat-e-Islami on Sunday flexed its muscles at Shahrah-e-Pakistan, in the MQM’s stronghold, ahead of the NA-246 by-polls scheduled on April 23.
Addressing a mammoth gathering, JI chief Senator Sirajul Haq said that the people of Karachi would elect between good and evil on April 23 in the shape of Rashid Naseem or Faisal 'Mota', adding that the JI is linked with the people of Karachi since 'Tehreek-e-Pakistan Movement.’
He said that the people of Karachi have support the MQM and its chief Altaf Hussain, but in response the party leadership provided them targeted killings, extortion and terrorism.
Senator Sirajul Haq further said that the terrorism of the MQM has changed the identity of Karachi and destroyed peace of the city, adding that a peaceful Karachi is imperative for the progress of Pakistan.
Talking about the Nabil Gabol’s statement, he said the former MNA has confessed that massive rigging was committed in NA-246 during the 2013 general elections. The terrorism of MQM’s sector in-charges would be eliminated on the election day, he added.
He said that the era of the G3 riffles has ended and the nation has entered in the age of 3G. The Untied States and United Kingdom will not protect the MQM from defeat in the by-polls, he said adding, “It would be better that you withdraw your candidate to avoid insulting defeat.”
On the occasion Siraj appealed to the people to visit the polling stations on the day for bringing real change in Karachi, adding that the terrorism would be eliminate on April 23.
He announced that his party has decided to make the country a prosperous state and its campaign will be started from Karachi. He further said that the JI will introduce uniform education system in all educational institutions where the children from poor and elite classes will get the education. Free medical treatment, subsidy on five basic commodities would be introduced by the Jamaat-e-Islami", he promised.
Speaking on the occasion, JI’s contender in NA-246 Rashid Naseem said that the constituency belongs to Prof Ghafoor and the Jamaat-e-Islami will revive the past glory of Karachi on April-23. The MQM has failed to serve Karachiites and the situation of the city was being deteriorated since 1984, as infrastructure, transportation, health and education of the city are being destroyed by the elected representatives.
JI leader Asadullah Bhutto said that the party will get success on April-23 and rid the people of terrorism, targeted killing and extortion.
The MQM has destroyed the peace of Karachi and their representatives are being elected in Karachi through bogus votes and the fact has already been confessed by former MQM leader Nabil Gabol, said JI leader Mohammad Hussain Mehanti. He said the LEAs have failed to ensure safety to the rallies of the JI and PTI, and demanded the ECP and other authorities to play their role to ensure peaceful elections on April 23.
JI Karachi Chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman during his speech said that the massive public gathering proved that the JI will get success in by-polls. He said bloodshed, terrorism and lawlessness were being spread in Karachi through a planned conspiracy, adding that the JI will free the city from terrorism.
Naeem further said that the ruling elite distributed the masses on the basis of cast, colour and creed just for the sake of their vested interest. He said that the terrorism in city has destroyed its culture, tradition and education and spread ethnic violence in Karachi, adding that the JI leadership has served the masses indiscriminately in its tenure of city administration. "NA-246 is not strange for Jamaat-e-Islami and the candidate Rashid Naseem will stand victorious on April 23", he added.
JI leaders Younus Barai, Munim Zafar Khan and others also spoke on the occasion.
On the occasion, Mehmood Hamid through a resolution demanded the government to remove cinema hall from the building of Islamic Research Centre located near Ayesha Manzil.
Furthermore, Abdul Hafiz, Nazim IJT, Karachi presented a resolution pertaining to condemn amendments in literature books of Islamiat, Urdu and Pakistan Studies and deletion of historic topics from text books.
During the JI rally Shahrah-e-Pakistan going from Kareem Abad to Water pump remained closed for the traffic while heavy contingent of police was deployed for the security of the rally.
