The newly created Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation has inherited a number of civic problems previously handled by Capital Development Authority.

While setting priorities the IMC is expected to choose those areas first where the judiciary has some stake in the context of civic problems faced by the public at large e.g non-conforming use of residential houses and un-abated swelling of katchiabadis etc. IMC needs to go by the courts’ orders and take the needed steps in such cases.

Safe drinking water and sanitation are the other important areas where the citizens have a lot of discontentment. Apart from residential areas the stinking markets like Aabpara market should be at the top of the reform agenda of IMC.

The deplorable condition of parks and play-grounds within city is another area which deserves early attention of IMC. Un-lit street poles and weedy streets particularly around F.G Polyclinic in G-6 sector which deserve attention on priority basis.

Non-maintenance of Government quarters by CDA inquiry offices is another cause of resentment for the residents. The Mayor office is requested to look into the matter and direct the concerned directorate to attend repairs of A to E type quarters on urgent basis by drawing a list based on actual need to be found-out through physical survey of these government houses.
