LAHORE - The only woman police station in the provincial capital has become ‘useless’ owing to shortage of staff.
Only one police station for over five million female population was not enough. It could not registrar even a single case after lapse of three months of the current year. Last case was registered on September 22 last year. Moreover, last year only seven cases were registered with the police station.
The station comprised only 33 officials including an SHO, a sub inspector investigation and 21 constables and two head constables in the operation wing while only eight constables in the investigation wing.
The government had established the police station eighteen years ago but it lacked its own building. The station was shifted from one place to the other after intervals of time. The situation was a question mark on women rights.
