Don't create mess

Makhdoom Amin Fahim says he will not leave the party. It is his prerogative. He continues to harangue against the polices of the party, this too is not a big issue unless one criticizes the polices of his mother party in public and differs on major polices issues. When things come to this pass, as is the case with Mr. Fahim, it is better for him to leave the party. Whatever differences he has with Mr Zardari, he should have sorted them out in party meetings or simply kept quiet in the interest of the Party. Being a seasoned politician, Mr. Fahim's confrontation and cold war with the party leadership has provided enough ground to PPP's traditional rivals to damage the credentials of the party. Mr. Fahim's disenchantment had also attracted a group of like-minded people to his side. And the opponents call it a forward block within the Party. This is the magnanimity of Asif Ali Zardari that he is tolerating all this; if she were alive today, BB would have expelled such errant elements forthwith. It is in the interest of PPP, people and Mr Amin himself that either he should leave the party or stop attacking and damaging party position in public. If he chooses the former course it may further damage the party and lower his standing as veteran politician.-GULSHER PANHWER, Johi, District Dadu, via e-mail, August 10.
