RAWALPINDI - The lawyer community would fully support the coalition government in the impeachment move of President Pervez Musharraf. After impeachment President Musharraf should be tried under Article-6 of the Constitution so that no tyrant could even dare to impose martial law in future. President of Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA), Rawalpindi, Sardar Ismatullah Khan expressed these views while addressing the programme 'Guest of the Week' organised by Crime and Court Reporters Association, Rawalpindi, here at the Press Club on Tuesday. Secretary General of LHCBA Malik Siddiq Awan and senior advocate Anwar Dar were also present on the occasion. Sardar Ismat also said that although Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) is the supreme authority but different bar associations have their own procedure and they are not supposed to abide by all of its decisions. "The legal fraternity would continue its struggle for the independence of judiciary on full scale," he added. "Lahore High Court Bar Association, Rawalpindi, would host a meeting of National Coordination Council of the lawyers on August 15 in which lawyers from across the country would participate", he added. He said if President Musharraf tries to take any illegal measure to save his skin from impeachment, the lawyers would again come on the roads along with democratic forces. He continued that lawyers fully support the impeachment of President Musharraf and after impeachment, he might be declared "national criminal" for breaking the Constitution since he and his cohorts were responsible for creating fuss in the country and his partners might also be taken to law. Lawyers representative said that the lawyers not accepted the PCO judges who took oath after November 3 last year but as a matter of fact they consider the deposed judiciary as real judges, which could be restored through an executive order of the Prime Minister Gillani, when he issued the orders to release them on March 24. Sardar Ismat said that hundreds of Pakistani nationals, including Dr Afia Siddiqui, were sold out to FBI for the sake of few thousand dollars by President Musharraf and his companions.
