KARACHI - An alleged robber shot himself dead in fear of being burnt by the angry mob within the jurisdiction of Ibrahim Hyderi police station. Meanwhile nine alleged robbers were arrested in separate encounters. As per details, an alleged unidentified robber shot himself dead in fear of being burnt and tortured by the residents of Ibrahim Hyderi. According to police, the deceased along with his another associate was trying to broke into the house of a transporter Jamil-ur-Rehman at Sector 48/E. The area people were gathered on the scene after hearing screaming of Rehman. Then the robbers tried to flee from the place and one of them was escaped while another got stuck among scores of angry people. The people wanted to kill the robber by burning and torturing therefore he shot himself on his forehead. The dead body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities and then shifted to Edhi morgue, Sohrab Goth. No FIR was registered till the filing of this report. In the meanwhile, five alleged robbers were arrested after an encounter from Sector 11-G in the jurisdiction of Bilal Colony police station. When police party led by DSP Asghar Hussain Shah had reached on the scene on the tip-off, the robbers opened fire on them which police retaliated, said New Karachi Town SP Dr Mohammad Farooq Ahmed. He said that five pistols and four mobile phones were also recovered from their possession. The arrested men are Arif Khan, Mohammad Naeem, Mohammad Suleman, Hassan Ali and Qaiser. The SP said that the arrested men were involved in several cases of street crimes. The cases had been registered against them on behalf of government. Similarly, Saeedabad police on the directives of SITE Town SP Ashfaq Alam conducted raid near at Jungle School, Steel Chowk in the jurisdiction of Saeedabad police station and arrested four alleged robbers after an encounter. The robbers are Dilshad, Rafiq, Khalid and Shahnawaz. Alam claimed to have recovered the weapons and drugs from their possession.
