CJs Canal Road remarks welcomed

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE-The residents and office bearers of management bodies belonging to different residential schemes along Canal Road have welcomed favorable remarks by Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Mohammad Ch regarding widening of the road. In a press release issued on Friday, they said they were facing numerous hardships due to frequent traffic jams on Canal Road, but CJs remarks to widen the road will help alleviate their problems. They said their children could not reach schools and colleges in time due to heavy rush of traffic and patients in need of immediate treatment also remained stuck up for considerable time. It has been a persistent demand of residents of Johar Town, Canal View, Tech Society, EME, PCSIR and Judicial Colony that a third lane be added to the said road for smooth flow of traffic. They had also written a letter to CJ to take suo moto of this important public issue. People coming from Islamabad, Gujranwala, Multan, Faisalabad, Okara Sahiwal and other cities also get stuck up in traffic for hours due to the narrow road with two lanes at most of the points from Thokar Niaz Baig to Jallomore. It may be noted here that Punjab government has already allocated funds in the annual budget to widen the road and was waiting for a final court verdict to initiate work on the project.
