our staff reporter LAHORE The Lahore High Court Friday dismissed a petition earlier filed against the Evacuee Trust Property Board Chairman and transfer of the petitioner. The court held the petition not maintainable. Amir Khan through his petition said that he has been Secretary to Board but transferred as a punishment when he pinpointed billion of rupees corruption in the department and helped check it. In his place, he said, one Khalid Baig was appointed. The petitioner also alleged that Board Chairman Asif Hashmi wanted to appoint as many as 531 persons in the department infringing rules and regulations but he was not ready to let that happen and opposed the illegal appointments. Not that but the Chairman also embezzled huge amount using his personal influence in political quarters, the petitioner alleged, adding that the Board is about to become bankrupt at present. He alleged that the Chairman gave 1000 kanals of land to a housing authority and got no money for it which caused a colossal loss to the Board. Not that but Rs 980 million were also spent in the name of investment but this amount is also clueless, he said, adding that of the 16 vehicles of the department, nine are in the personal use of the Chairmans family. The petitioner has prayed for nullifying his transfer to the other department and taking action on the alleged embezzlement of the Board money.
