LAHORE: On the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, second Anti-Dengue Day will be observed on August 17.

All government departments will remain open and special cleanliness campaign and elimination of mosquito-breeding sites will be launched. To raise public, seminars and walks will be held while street announcements will be made and informative material will also be distributed on the day. Elected public representatives will also participate in the drive.

The Health Department has issued a notification for observing the Anti-Dengue Day. The department has issued instructions to the VCs of KEMU and University of Health Sciences Lahore, Principals of all government medical colleges, MSs of government and autonomous medical institutions and subordinate offices to launch a special cleanliness campaign in their respective premises. They have been directed to ensure that waste, condemned items, debris which cause accumulation of water and provide a favourable breeding ground for mosquito and larvae/eggs are removed.

The department has also appealed to the general public to clean their houses and surroundings and check accumulation of water in open places.–Staff Reporter
