LAHORE - Provincial Minister for Law and Local Government Rana Sanaullah has said the current tension with India, erupted after cross border firing, will be defused through talks and not through aggressive means.

He told reporters outside the Punjab Assembly chamber here on Monday that the PML-N has always pursued peaceful means of negotiations to sort out disputes. The prevailing tension between India and Pakistan will also be overcome on the table, he added.

To a question on the Supreme Court direction for holding Local Government polls by next month, he appreciated the Supreme Court verdict as yielding positive impact on the conduct of LG polls.

Speaking in general terms about the security arrangements for elections in the country, he said Federal and provincial Governments will honour demand of the Election Commission for deployment of Army, Rangers and police ,wherever, it will be required.

Rana Sanaullah said elections for the Local Government will be held in September on the existing delimitation of constituencies and in November fresh delimitations will need to be carried out.
