LAHORE - Lauding the role of overseas Pakistanis in the nation building, Punjab Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar on Monday said that their love for the country was unquestionable and their bond with it unbreakable.  “They have always been ready to serve their country and are fully committed for its prosperity, progress and safety”, he observed during a meeting with a seven member delegation of PML (N), Italy Wing, headed by Raja Sheraz Ahmed at Governor House, Lahore on Monday. .
The delegation assured the governor that overseas Pakistanis would invest in the education sector to help the government materialize its objective of sending one million new children to schools every year. The overseas Pakistanis said they will fully support and provide all kind of resources for this noble cause. They also congratulated Governor Punjab on assuming his new responsibility and said that his appointment as Governor of Punjab was in fact the voice of all overseas Pakistanis. Governor Punjab said that overseas Pakistanis always stepped forward for the betterment of the country and played a vital role in the difficult times. “They in fact, are the real ambassadors of Pakistan in foreign countries”, he added.  Governor also stated that illiteracy was the main cause of all problems facing the country and the government will have to overcome these difficulties through strengthening of the education sector. “The fact that about 7 million children are deprived of basic education and are not attending schools is a very grim situation at present”, Sarwar remarked, adding that on the direction of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Chief Minister Punjab he was preparing a comprehensive plan to send one million children to school for acquiring basic education. Earlier, Inspector General of Police Punjab, Khan Baig called on Governor Punjab at Governor House and briefed him about the law and order situation.
