LAHORE  - PML-N is making efforts to hammer out a broad-based consensus policy on terrorism. Terrorism is not an issue relating only to PML-N, PPP or any particular political party but related to the whole nation.

This was stated by PML-N Central Information Secretary Senator Mushahidullah Khan on Monday.

Mushahid criticised the voices being raised for immediate framing of a national policy on terrorism and said that the former PPP rulers over the last five years did nothing to curb terrorism or work out guidelines to deal with this menace.

He said a well thought out policy which covered all aspects of terrorism and commanded acceptance of all was needed for which the PML-N government was making day and night efforts.

He further stated that terrorism grew over the last 13 years due to wrong and misdirected policies of the different governments, therefore, no overnight solution or quick fix could be found out to deal with it.

He stated that during the last five years PML-N as Opposition had been pressing the PPP government for setting up a counter-terrorism authority but the government did not pay any attention.

Only hollow claims were made by the PPP government to stand like a rock against terrorism and eliminate this scourge but no substantive measures was adopted in this behalf and the monster grew stronger, he said.

“It is first time in the national history that the PML-N is making serious efforts to frame a consensus policy against terrorism,” he added.
