LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that relief efforts in the flood-hit areas was in full swing and all steps will be taken for the rehabilitation of the flood victims.
The CM directed Divisional Commissioners and district administration to monitor the flow of water in rivers and water channels round the clock and immediately inform the concerned institutions in case of any emergency situation.
He said that concerned institutions should maintain a close contact with each other to control any untoward situation arising out of rains and potential floods and finalise their preparations and arrangements in this regard.
Shahbaz said that people gave a historic mandate to the PML-N in the last elections, therefore, it is the duty of the elected representatives to remain with the masses in this testing time and work with the administration for solving problems of the affectees.
He said that relief activities have immediately been started in Rajanpur, Mianwali and Sialkot areas which were badly affected by floods.
He said that losses of flood affectees will be compensated in the light of the survey to be carried out in the flood-hit areas.
He warned that no laxity or negligence would be tolerated in the relief and rehabilitation activities for the flood affectees.
