karachi- Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD) International Expo 2014 will not only expand building and construction activities but will also attract foreign investment.

This was stated by Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani during the inauguration ceremony of ABAD International Expo 2014 at Expo Centre Karachi.

Agha Siraj Durrani said, “ABAD has worked hard with support from Government of Sindh. There was once a time when construction industry was in grim conditions and Pakistani builders sought Arab states to invest in sector but PPP encouraged ABAD in its efforts to resolve building and construction issues in Pakistan that led to the launch of many residential projects in duration of just 5 years”.

He said that construction industry plays a key role in the development of the country. “ABAD International Expo 2014 will prove our capability and advancement in technology in construction sector”.  He said “It is very auspicious to have international delegation present in event which proves that Pakistan is a very hospitable country” He said, “Government of Sindh has spread the scope of Building Control Authority to the whole province”. He announced that if we are facing the problems of illegal possessions of land then ABAD should make a team of law experts who will be approved by Sindh Assembly to take action against this problem and to prevent it in future”  Chairman ABAD Mohsin Sheikhani expressed, “ABAD International Expo 2014 is the first exhibition related to building and construction industry. This exhibition is spread in all the 6 halls of Karachi Expo Centre with 385 stalls from 130 companies. 24 of the companies belong to UAE, Malaysia, China, Turkey, Thailand, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Germany.  Building and construction professionals from around the globe attended the exhibition. Thousands of the people including political, social and leading business professionals visited the event on its first day.

He informed that “Pakistan lacks 8 million houses which has increasing rate of 300,000 yearly. We wish to build low priced houses with support from government so that the dream to own a house of every citizen will be fulfilled.”

Saleem Kassam Patel, Senior  Vice Chairman Abad, Hanif Gohar, Vice Chairman Abad, and Haris Mithani were also present at the inauguration ceremony.
