Recently, the Sindh government has re-appointed a 68-year-old retired official as the Chairman of the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Human Resource Research & Development Board (BBSHRRDB), on a three-year contract on a very handsome salary, allowances and other benefits. Surprisingly, the appointment was made without any advertisement, interview, test or allowing anyone to compete for the post, which is not only against merit but also an injustice to many deserving candidates who were waiting for such a promotion.

His appointment is a clear violation of the Supreme Court and the Sindh High Court orders in which it was mentioned that, “A person who is above 60 years is not eligible for any Government post”. On one hand, the Sindh Government, in context of court orders, re-advertised the posts of Registrar, Controller Examinations, and Director Finance of all universities of Sindh with the condition of candidates being below the age of 60 years, however, on other hand violating the same orders, a retired official has been re-appointed for the post of Chairman BBSHRRDB. I request the concerned authority to take immediate action in this regard and cancel the appointment of the Chairman BBSHRRDB.
